Suicide, that’s who. The US Air Force is losing more “airmen to suicide than any other single enemy” according to Kaleth Wright, Chief Master Sergeant, in a video message which was posted online. So far this year 78 American airmen have killed themselves, 28 more than for the same period last year. “We can’t let this keep happening,” says Wright. So the Air Force has ordered a one-day exercise, focusing on the issue of suicide. That’ll fix it.
Maybe it’s a problem wider than the armed forces? The suicide rate in the US in 2017 was 33% higher than in 1999. The suicide rate is now higher than at any point since 1945.
