According to the US Centers for Disease Control, the death rate for people with Alzheimer’s went up by 55% during 2009-2014, from 16.5 deaths per 100,000 to 25.4 deaths per 100,000.

It’s now the sixth leading cause of death in the US, with five million Americans living with the disease.

That figure is projected to more than triple by 2050.
