Veda Chopin

No longer will Chopin’s Marche Funèbre be played during the funeral processions of Turkey’s dead soldiers.

By order of the Interior Ministry of Turkey, instead the fallen will be accompanied on their way to the grave by the equally mournful Segâh Tekbir, by Buhurizade Mustafa Itri, who lived between 1640 and 1712.

Back in April this year the head of Turkey’s War Veterans Foundation, Lokman Aylar, said: “A foreigner’s death march doesn’t suit our martyrs.”
