Unhappy Japanese children

Japan’s Ministry of Education says that 250 schoolchildren committed suicide during 2016/17, more than in any year since 1986. At the same time the total number of suicides in the country fell to 21,321 in 2017, against a peak of 34,427 in 2003.

In 2016 Japan’s government announced a plan to cut the country’s suicide rate by 30% by 2026, particularly among young people.
