Who really knows how many people have died climbing Everest? Some say more than 300.
Whatever the true figure, two more have died. They were the Japanese climber Nobukazu Kuriki, 35, who had already tried in 2012 and lost most of his fingers in that attempt; cause of death was probably hypothermia; and a 63 year-old Macedonian, Gjeorgi Petkov, who had a heart attack.
You have to go back 41 years, to 1977, to find a year when nobody has died trying to climb the mountain.
