The Potter decision

A good tale, and beautifully presented, from National Geographic, that of Susan Potter who, it misleadingly says, “will live forever”. It turns out that she is already dead and her immortality is metaphorical only.

But anyway…Potter died of pneumonia (the old person’s killer) on 16 February 2015 aged 87, and two years later her deep frozen donated corpse was cut into four, preparatory to being dissected for the Visible Human project.

The Potter body was eventually sliced into 27,000 slivers thinner than a human hair, creating a ‘virtual’ cadaver for anatomical researchers.
