The Syrian Center for Policy Research (SCPR) says that at least 470,000 Syrians have died as a result of the country’s five-year civil war.
18 months ago the United Nations put the death toll at around 250,000, but then gave up counting because it could not be certain of the figures.
According to the SCPR life expectancy has dropped 14 years, to 56 from 70, since the war began.
It puts the war’s economic cost at $255 billion.
