The king is dead

King Mwambutsa IV of Burundi (pictured right), who died in 1977, has just been re-buried, in Switzerland, to where he fled following an attempted coup d’etat in 1965.

He was dug up in 2012 and was due to be returned to Burundi for a state funeral, by order of Burundi’s President, Pierre Nkurunziza.

But relatives fought a legal battle and finally managed to have the late king returned to the grave near Geneva.
