Ngawang Tenzin Choekyi Lodoe Rabsel, a two year-old Tibetan boy born in Nepal, has been anointed by the Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche, who died in 2011 at the age of 88.
The previous Trulshik Rinpoche was a senior figure in Tibetan Buddhism. He was one of the Dalai Lama’s teachers and became head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism in 2010.
After China invaded Tibet, Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche fled in 1959 to Nepal.
The title Kyabje is a mark of respect for the most eminent lamas.
