Suicide rates down everywhere

Good news – fewer people everywhere are choosing suicide.

That’s according to an article in the British Medical Journal published in early February, which totalled the global number of suicides each year between 1990 and 2016. The total number of suicides rose by 6.7%, but because the population continued to grow at a clip, the total suicide rate was down by an average 32.7%.

Around 800,000 people kill themselves each year.
