An outbreak of rat poison consumption in the US state of Illinois has killed three people. The deaths – more than 150 cases of poisoning are suspected – were caused by people consuming synthetic cannabinoids, sprayed onto stuff that is then smoked.
The cause is brodifacoum, a highly lethal anticoagulant poison; it’s been discovered in some synthetic cannabinoids on sale in Illinois. Those affected have been coughing up blood, pissing blood, having bleeding gums, and suffering from internal bleeding.
