Medical students in Thailand are very respectful of the cadavers they have used.
But all good things come to an end.
Which is why students of Chulalongkorn University (pictured) recently boarded a wooden boat carrying the remains of more than 300 corpses whose bodies they had studied. As a monk recited Buddhist prayers the students dropped coins and flowers, and then they lowered the bagged-up corpses into the waters of the Chao Phraya river.
Dr. Montakarn Tansatit, a professor from Chulalongkorn University, said: “The cadavers are our silent mentors.”
