Scrap metal

The city council of Derby in England has taken to heart the call to recycle stuff – its cemetery, at Markeaton, recycles the metal scrap left over from the cremation of the dead.

Families are asked to give their permission for knee replacement joints, hip joints, or orthopedic implants to be collected after the cremation. The bits of metal are then bagged up and recycled and any profit can be donated to a charity of their choice.
