Reynard’s fightback

Robert Galen, 95, was the third person to be attacked by a rabid fox in Maine in less than two weeks. It confronted him in his garden.

The fox bit his foot, but didn’t puncture the skin.

Galen responded by beating the fox to death – it took ten minutes – with a club he held. The only damage he suffered was a back injury, as he fell during the fight.

The fox fight follows an incident in Georgia earlier in June, when DeDe Phillips was attacked by a rabid bobcat. The bobcat bit her but she grabbed it by the throat and strangled it.
