Sardinia’s finest have put paid to a plot to kidnap a corpse and hold it to ransom.
Not just any old corpse, but that of ‘Il Commendatore’, as Enzo Ferrari (pictured), the founder of the eponymous car company was known before he died in 1988 at the age of 90. His remains are contained in a sarcophagus in the San Cataldo cemetery in Modena, near Ferrari’s factory at Maranello in central Italy.
Thirty suspects are now in jail.
