Pigs won’t fly

The Rookwood cemetery in Sydney, is Australia’s largest. At 280 hectares it’s the final resting place for more than one million people. Its newest entrants are around 100 pigs – which might cause some problems, given that many of those interred there are of Muslim and Jewish backgrounds.

The mass pig-burial is supposedly an experiment to look into finding more space at the crowded cemetery. The dead and buried pigs will be exposed to compounds, additives and a lot of other stuff to see if they rot a bit faster, thus making it possible to bury more cadavers, more quickly, in the same plot.
