The US government has stopped putting flowers on the graves of fallen servicemen on Memorial Day, citing cost reasons.
The American Battle Monuments Commission has overseen the flowers’ donation for the fallen in foreign countries since the 1950s.
According to Tim Nosal of the Commission, we “will no longer be processing the orders. We’re asking the public to go directly to florists to order the flowers. That takes the government out of the middle…There was no mandate to do it. We receive no funding to operate it.”
