More fentanyl

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) – America’s go-to agency for all things disease and death – reports that the number of deaths from fentanyl and fentanyl-like substances doubled in the first half of 2017 compared to the same period from the previous year, the latest data available.

One analogue to fentanyl – carfentanil – is 10,000 times more potent than morphine.

Ohio was a big place for unintended deaths by overdose, four times higher in April 2017 than in nine other states combined.
