John Allen Chau, a 27 year-old from Alabama, has died on a beach on the sun-kissed North Sentinel island (pictured) in the eastern Indian ocean, a victim of his own curiosity.
He was shot to death by arrows fired by members of the Sentinelese, the local inhabitants, who are totally cut off from civilisation. They are nearly extinct and number not more than 150. To preserve them the Indian government has banned contact with, or making videos of, the Sentinelese; but Chau apparently wanted to preach Christianity to them.
His remains have – naturally – not been recovered as North Sentinel island is out of bounds to everyone. Including Christian nutters.
