Just a little bit guilty

The Supreme Court in the Netherlands has upheld an earlier judgement that the country bore responsibility for the massacre of 350 men and boys during the 1995 attack by Bosnian Serbs near the town of Srebrenica. Bosnian Serb forces went on to murder a total of 8,000 Muslim men and boys.

But in one of those legal decisions that defies common sense, the court reduced the Netherland’s responsibility from 30% to 10%, on the basis that “the chance that the male refugees would have escaped the Bosnian Serbs had they been given the choice to stay was slim, but not negligible.”
