Farmer suicides are hitting record levels in the US. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – the federal authority on all things deathly – the suicide rate in farming, fishing and forestry is 84.5 per 100,000 people, or five times the rate for the population overall.
Why is this happening? Many believe it’s to do with money. Farm incomes this year are headed for 35% less than in 2013.
