Irene Collins was 73 when she died in July 2014, after being bitten by a German Shepherd police dog. The police were hunting a suspect in a drugs operation, in Middlesborough, in the north-east of England.
She had given permission for the coppers to chase through her garden but the dog followed her into her kitchen, and bit her. She died four days later.
Now a date has finally been set for the inquest into her death, March 2018 – almost four years later.
And the dog? It was withdrawn from duty.
