Going loco in Acapulco

The Acapulco Association for the Families of Disappeared Persons has formed itself to try to raise 20 million pesos (about $1 million).

The money will be put towards buying the services of forensic scientists, to try to identify 751 corpses currently languishing in three state mortuaries in Acapulco, Chilpancingo and Iguala. The Mexican state says it doesn’t have the money and can’t cope with the sheer number of unidentified bodies piling up.

These mortuaries are, claim the association, completely overflowing with decomposing bodies, ‘stored’ in plastic sacks.
