Gaddafi’s corpse

Mystery surrounds the final fate of the corpse of Moammar al-Gaddafi, the Libyan dictator who was toppled from power in 2011.

His body was handed over to the Misrata brigades in Libya, the most powerful single force in the country, which is today a place of anarchy. The most that is known is that it was then placed in a mortuary freezer for a week, and then washed and prayers said over it.

His Gaddafa tribe demanded that the national transition council, which was ruling the country at the time, to hand over the corpse; but that wasn’t done.
