Saudi Arabia’s status as a
enticing welcoming liberal brutal country as far as women are concerned is confirmed with the verdict that two sisters, Rotana Farea, 23, and Tala Farea, 16, who were Saudi citizens and had lived in the US for two to three years, killed themselves rather than be returned to the county of their birth.
They had been living in a sheltered home in Virginia because of allegations of abuse. They were last seen alive on 24 August. Two months later their bodies were found on the bank of the Hudson River in New York. They had tied themselves together at the waist with duct tape.
US officials had issued an order that their mother, from whom they were separated, had been ordered to leave the US.
