Euthanasia in The Netherlands

The Dutch Paediatricians’ Association has published a position paper arguing that children aged from 1 to 12 should be eligible for euthanasia, when palliative care is ineffective.

In the Netherlands the current rule is that children between 12 and 16 must have parental approval.

Euthanasia is banned for those under 12 – except for children under 12 months, who can be involuntarily put to death.
