Undergraduate students in physics at the University of Leicester have conducted an interesting hypothetical experiment – what if everyone on Earth turned into a cannibal? How long would we all last?
The answer is, if the ‘food’ were shared out equally, slightly more than three years.
They assume that an adult male amounts to 125,800 calories, and a daily diet of 2,500 calories.
The ‘food’ would of course last longer if some people herded and farmed some of the others. And the hypothesis seems not to take into account reproduction.
