Amid all the nonsense about mass human extinctions at last a voice of commonsense.
David Grinspoon, NASA’s former chairman of astrobiology, has said “the human race is not credibly threatened with extinction…All of the best projections show population peaking and then leveling off later this century, and fertility is declining for the right reasons.”
Grinspoon says increased economic development and rising standards of living will slow population growth; the world’s population will peak at about 10 to 11 billion before the end of the 21st century. He reckons a gradual rebalancing will take place and the damaging impact we make on the whole planet will ease.
So stop panicking.
