In Colorado, it’s perfectly legal to sell human body parts for research and education purposes. It’s also legal to sell items recovered from dead bodies – such as gold fillings in teeth.
A former employee of the Sunset Mesa Funeral Home, in Montrose, Colorado, has told Reuters that the owners of the home not only handle the disposal of the dead – they have a sideline in selling body parts.
The owners also allegedly collect the gold teeth from the dead and – according to the same ex-employee, Kari Escher – one year sold the gold and “took the whole family to Disneyland in California on the gold that they had cashed in.”
