At Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport you no longer need worry about dying and causing environmental problems.
It’s now opened a new mortuary, part of Schiphol’s ambition to become a zero-waste airport by 2030. It has insulating and energy-generating applications; and a circular water system that drains away waste water and filters it, even making it suitable for drinking. Electricity is supplied by solar panels.
For those of a voyeuristic inclination, it also has a viewing room, with bathing facilities for cleansing the deceased.
