Death by gout

If you have gout – a kind of arthritis, in which small crystals form inside the joints and cause excruciating pain – you have around an 80% higher risk of dying from kidney disease or diseases of the digestive system, according to an article in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatology. Gout is easily treatable with a regular course of drugs but in the US about half of all people with gout attacks don’t seek medical attention.
