Child mortality

According to new statistics published by the United Nations, the mortality rate for children aged under five has fallen by 56% in the past 26 years, from 93 deaths per 1,000 live births to 41.

Highest death rate for the under fives is in Somalia – 133 per 1,000 live births. Lowest, with just two per 1,000, is Finland, Iceland, Luxembourg and Slovenia.
