According to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, a brain was found by an undertaker in the stomach of a corpse, at Warwick hospital in England.
The Human Tissue Authority gained the FOI information as part of an analysis of mistakes committed at hospitals between 2014 and 2016.
Among 278 “serious incidents” in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, one – at King’s College hospital in London – involved a large corpse stuck in a freezer. Because of the way it had been frozen it had to be thawed out before removal.
