Bottoms up

Gill Howe, a mother of four children, died as a result of respiratory failure due to alcohol intoxication, an inquest at Hull Coroner’s Court has been told.

On 29 June 2018 Howe – who was not a regular nor a heavy drinker – downed a bottle and a half of red wine, became “confused” and slumped in her chair, while the friend with whom she was drinking fell asleep.

As an infrequent drinker Howe was more vulnerable to alcohol poisoning, according to the pathologist.
