Malick Jatta, Omar Jallow and Amadou Badjie are three former members of the Junglers – which is not some post-punk band but a Gambian death squad which once carried out plenty of hits for ex-president Yahya Jammeh, perhaps better known by his official title, which was: His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Abdul-Aziz Awal Jemus Junkung Jammeh Naasiru Deen Babili Mansa.
The small West African country has been gripped by testimony by the three thugs, who have been giving evidence to the country’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, set up after Jammeh (pictured – he is the one in the middle) was booted out in 2017.
Jammeh is a former military officer who led a coup in 1994 and installed himself as President via an ‘election’ in 1996. He has been accused of numerous crimes including murder and rape. Badjie has told the Commission that the ex-president (now living a happy life in exile in Equatorial Guinea) about various murders.
