A suicide tourist

Kalvin Chapman was a Manchester-based commercial litigation solicitor and a depressive. An inquest has just ruled that he killed himself in April 2018 at the age of 43. Chairman of the UKIP political party in Manchester, Chapman had experienced a heart attack in 1995 – and that left him with chronic back pain.

Bizarrely, he travelled to Mexico to get hold of a lethal drug which he smuggled into the UK. Before taking the drug he Tweeted that no one “ever loved me, and that has been the biggest regret of my life.” He signed off with “Goodnight and fond farewell. It’s been fun” – although it clearly hadn’t.
